The Big and the Beautiful

Donald Trump will sign his historic Big Beautiful Bill into law during a 4th of July ceremony in the Oval Office today. It took months of negotiating, numerous amendments and several votes to finally push this legislation across the finish line. Not only have the Democrats loudly condemned this bill as being “tax cuts for the rich” and gutting Medicaid, food stamps and other welfare programs, House minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries tried to filibuster this bill for eight and half hours, before the final vote to pass it. Not one Democrat voted for this bill. Left-wing commentators are calling it the “the largest upward transfer of wealth in American history.” Democrat representative Jahana Hayes called this bill, “trickle down cruelty.”
Several prominent non-Democrats have vehemently opposed this bill as well. Republican representatives Thomas Massie (KY) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA) were the two lone defectors in the House who voted against the bill. Massie has called the bill a “debt bomb” and stated on X, that “if we were serious, we’d be cutting spending now.” Famously, former head of DOGE, Elon Musk has severed ties with the President and vowed to primary every Republican who voted for this bill. Musk was extremely frustrated over the bill’s “massive spending… which increases the budget deficit… and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing." He added, "I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don't know if it can be both." He blasted the bill as "pork-filled", a "disgusting abomination," and "betrayed the American people."
There is an old saying in Washington, D.C., “do not let the perfect get in the way of the good.” Does this bill do everything that I hoped it would do, especially when addressing our massive national debt? No. But that doesn’t mean, the legislation is not good. It is moving our country in the “right” direction. We must take the wins whenever and wherever we can. You don’t go broke taking a profit, and for the conservative cause and for Republicans, this legislation is a massive profit.
The Democrats never play politics the way Republicans do. Their goal is to move our country to the left, and if a piece of legislation does that, even if it doesn’t move the country as far as left as they would like, they still support it. They take it is a win and then continue to push the country further to the left. We must take the same approach with this legislation. There is no doubt that it moves our country to the right, to the conservative side. Does it take us all the way there? No. But there’s no legislation that would do that which could be passed. Let’s do what the Democrats do. Take the win. And then continue to push for what we want that wasn’t in the bill.
What does this bill do? This bill permanently extends the income tax brackets lowered by Trump's 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, while adding new deductions to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime up to certain caps. It also includes a new tax deduction for people age 65 and over. The bill rolls back green energy tax credits implemented under former President Joe Biden. The bill requires new and expanded work requirements for Medicaid and federal food assistance. It eliminates most of the fraud and abuse in our social service programs. The bill increases funding for the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to codify into law the President Trump’s border security executive orders which cracks down on illegal immigrants in the U.S.
The more the Democrats scream and gaslight about this bill, the more we can feel good about what this bill will do for this country. If the left does not like this legislation, that is the only endorsement we should need to support it. We must assume the George Constanza philosophy – if every instinct and belief (of the Democrats) is wrong, then the opposite must be right. If the Democrats – the people who want to destroy America – do not like the Big Beautiful Bill, then it must be good for the country. Remember, the Democrats were the ones who completely opened the border and welcomed 10 million illegals into this country, allowing the drug cartels, Islamists and CCP loyalist to create strongholds in our country; they ballooned the deficit and inflation with massive spending; they defunded the police; they implemented woke and DEI initiatives into the government; they ended our energy dominance; and they supported every anti-American insane policy ever implemented. We must worry about and defeat the bills that Democrats like or praise as being bipartisan. Those are the ones that move our country to the left, to weakness, toward our final demise. Let’s take this legislation as a win, and continue to move forward, move our country in the “right” direction.
