The Ultimate Ad Hominem Attack

An ad hominem attack is an argument where one side attacks their opponents’ personal character rather than the position they are maintaining. This type of argument is used when one side cannot win based on the merits of their argument so they attempt to discredit their opponent’s arguments by attacking them personally in order to discredit the person.

This tactic has been used with increasing frequency recently to the point that most arguments made in our current political climate is a form of ad hominem attack. The most common of these attacks is to call your opponent a “racist”. If you can label your opponent as a “racist”, you will no longer have to address their argument directly because they will have already been discredited to the point that nothing they say will carry any merit.

What we are witnessing today is the ultimate ad hominem attack. The forces that want to destroy our country are doing so by attacking the foundation of our country which is our founding. It is nearly impossible to make a credible argument to discredit the principles that our country was founded on. How can a coherent argument be made against “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”? Is there a better concept than “all men are created equal”? Is anyone going to argue against freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and the other rights enumerated in our constitution? No one can make a reasonable or compelling argument against those principles of our founding, of our system of government. And anyone who tries would be immediately discredited themselves.

But the forces who want to destroy our country, who want to impose their socialist/Marxist ideology know they can never win on the merits of their arguments, or on the record of history. Marxism will be immediately rejected based on its merits, or lack thereof. And the American people when presented with true facts and honest debate would never adopt a Marxist totalitarian government that limits all basic human rights over our system of government which protects all human rights.

So, the only way the principles of our founding can be taken down is to take down our founders. If the forces at work can discredit our founders, then they can discredit the principles for which they stood. This is why they are tearing down statues, representations of our founding, of our system of government. They started with Confederate Generals which most people can understand, and used that as a launching point to go after Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, Stephen Douglas.

They are not simply interested in tearing down statues of flawed men. They want to tear up our constitution and tear down our system of government. They want to replace our system of government that has brought more people out of poverty than every other system combined, and replace it with a system that has driven more people into poverty, and caused more death and destruction than any other system in human history.

Our founding fathers were extremely flawed men, but the principles for which they stood, that they wrote in our Constitution are as pristine as any ever written. And those words, those principles must be defended at all costs because they are empowering and liberating for all people. And if we lose those words, tear down those principles, it will usher in a level of oppression that tragically hundreds of millions of people who bought into the Marxist ideology have suffered through in its short history.
